The memory worked fine for about 8 months before my first CPU died so I doubt that is the problem. 

I've ordered some Jewelers magnifying glasses so I can see exactly where the pin is in relation to where it should be. 

Memory is 2 x 8G G.SKILL Trident Z 

F4-3000C15D

I did suffer from a memory leak with the system that I couldn't pin down beforehand. Been told that could have been the CPU cache and that's why the first CPU died.

Very rare for a CPU to be dead, but who knows? Did the box seemed to be sealed, it should have clear tape over one end, a large white information label over the other end.

Depending upon the memory you have, the A2 and B2 slots are usually the best to use. Two double sided DIMMs (8GB+) belong in the A1 and B1 slots.

Your memory problem could be related to the bent pins, but checking memory compatibility is first.

A bent pin or pins could easily be responsible for the channel not functioning yes. It isn't only a question of if the pin is aligned but also it's height, if it has been forced down below the level the CPU is able to make contact with it is just as useless as if it is not aligned. 

I accidentally bent some pins on my E3V5 Performance/OC and had the same issue, dead memory channel, it took me hours to straiten the pins and get the levels correct but ultimately I was able to restore functionality to the dead channel. If the board is new however it may be worth trying to RMA it.
