Wow, you've been given bad information from MSI about Windows 10 Intel RAID drivers, if that is true (sorry, but no way for me to know, it is possible of course).

First, all versions of Windows, including Windows 10, have built in (called "inbox") Intel RAID drivers. Windows 10 actually has two inbox Intel RAID drivers, the one that could be used with a Z77 chipset board is:

iaStorAV, version 13.2.0.1022, found in C:\windows\system32\drivers, the file is iastorav.sys

I'm getting this information from my Windows 10 installation, from a list of drivers found by the Microsoft sysinternals program, autoruns:



The entry above the one highlighted in blue is the IRST driver I installed myself, a newer version.
Below it is the older Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver, version 8.6.2/1019, dated 4/11/2011.

During a Windows 10 installation, a compatible IRST driver can also be installed by the user. Intel has many versions of the IRST driver available for download, from version 11 through 14.

I also have an ASRock Z77 Extreme4 board, using Windows 10 in RAID mode:



The IRST driver I'm using above (14) can only be installed during the Windows 10 installation.

Questions:

You had Windows 7 installed on a RAID 1 array, on an MSI Z77 board?

It seems you did a Windows 10 upgrade installation, from Windows 7 in RAID 1 on that PC? Meaning you did not have a copy of Windows 10 and were not doing a new installation?

If so, IMO performing the Win 10 upgrade on the RAID 1 array was a mistake, the Windows 10 upgrade process could not deal with the RAID 1 array, apparently, which would not surprise me. A lack of an Intel RAID driver was not the problem, a driver was available. The Win 10 upgrade should have stopped if it could not complete due to a missing driver. But who knows exactly what happened.

You said you want to use an ASRock Z77 "Extreme" board with Windows 10. At one time, ASRock had seven different Z77 Extreme boards. Which model are you asking about?
