Author: MWIchigo
Subject: 31001
Posted: 29 Feb 2024 at 11:09am

x470 Taichi (BIOS version 2.00)
Ryzen 7 2700x
64GB RAM

I have both a Solidigm P41 and a WD SN770 and I've discovered that neither drive will work in M2_2. Both drives work in M2_1.

I normally have GPUS in both PCIE1 and PCIE3 (2080ti and 1080ti respectively) but the second M.2 slot doesn't work even if I remove my second GPU. All other PCIe slots are empty.

Should I assume I can get both SSDs working if I put one in a PCIe adapter and plug it into either PCIE2,4, or 5, or will I likely have to lose my second GPU and use PCIE3? If it will work at all, that is.

I'm interested to know if there's any technical reason that neither drive likes the second M2 slot, or if you think it's just a dead slot, or if it's known that a newer BIOS version will solve the issue. I usually avoid updating the BIOS if everything is working well, and I haven't had any issues until now.
