The motherboard doesn't have a GPU, the GPU is inside tne CHIP if you are using a APU (AMD A4/A6/A8/A10), the Athlon don't have a GPU inside.

Thew second test you are doing is incorrect.

Did you try the discrete graphic card in another PC?

I just put together a machine using a FM2A68M-DG3 board and an AMD Athlon chip. I have 8GB 2Rx8 PC3 12800E 11 DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800and I put a GeForce 9500gt video but when I turned it on no signal on the monitor. No beeps from the speaker. So I took the card out and tried to use the on board video and still no signal.
