Being worried about wear & tear on the GPU slot keying, I decided to go for it with the newish 4.08 BIOS. Everything works OK, goal achieved.

CPU: i7-14700K (no OC, no undervolting)
RAM: 2x24 GB @ 7,200 (XMP)

Slot M2_2 has a gen4 NVMe SSD.

I have a working GPU (DPort) in PCIE2.

With BIOS 3.01, if I put the GPU into PCIE1, there is no video.
