The ASRock 990FX Killer's Memory Support List includes the IM memory model you have in your first post. When you open the Memory Support List below, click on the "Vendor" arrow, which will put the manufactures in alphabetical order. The scroll down to find I'M:

The 990FX Killer/3.1 also has that I'M memory model in it's Memory Support List.

wardog makes an excellent point about the memory controller in any AMD AM3+ processor supporting 64GB of memory. Since the I'M 16GB memory is 1333, it has an improved chance of working, but not guaranteed for four DIMMs/64GB. I don't know why the I'M memory only has a 'v' in the Dual Channel column, instead of 2pcs or 4pcs.

I have just the 990Fx Killer Part # 90-MXGST0-A0UAY1Z....the numerial 0 could be the letter O ?

64GB @ 1600? I can believe I guess. Sure. But 64GB is a whale of a stressor on the FX's IMC.

Yet before I went and dropped ~$900.00USD on four of those IM sticks I'd highly urge the OP to contact G.Skill and inquire what they have in the way of 64GB that's compatible. It would be bound to cheaper than those IM sticks.

Hell, at least if G.Skill came through all the sticks in the kit would be matched. Matched alone is worth contacting G.Skill over.


Now an FX supporting 4x16GB sticks, that remains to be seen. Spec is 2 sticks @ 1866. So she'll most likely need a wee more IMC voltage. And by "wee" I mean whatever it takes. So some serious water cooling should most like be on the OPs list right next to their 64GB.

There are ASRock Fatal1ty 990FX Killer and ASRock Fatal1ty 990FX Killer/3.1 boards, which one do you have? Actually, it does not matter.

The first problem in using 64GB of DDR3 memory in any board is finding 16GB DDR3 non-ECC DIMMs.

They did not exist until recently.

If we check the Memory Support List for both of these boards, we find one 16GB listing, the Intelligent Memory IMM2G72D3LSOD8AG-B15E.

That model appears to be available at Amazon:

Paying for that amount of memory will be the first challenge.

Next, given the Memory Support Lists, I don't think it is saying it works with four DIMMs in either board:

Given all of the above, how many people using these boards with 64GB of memory will be extremely small, if not none.

Has it even been proven the memory controller in the AMD FX-8000 series processors, with a board capable of accepting 64GB of memory, will work with 64GB? I don't know.
