Author: ptunstall
Subject: 3649
Posted: 24 Oct 2016 at 8:37am

I'm looking to build a compact but powerful GPU rendering farm. Ive successfully built a 10 GPU renderbox with a xeon server mobo but I really only use the GPUs so all the space from the big mobo is just wasted. I'm interested if this mobo will allow me to biforcate the single pcie 4 ways with the e5-2670 CPU. Im using the same cpu in the bigger machine and 9 of the gpus are coming off a single cpus pcie lanes, 4 gpus per single 16x slot. Ive tried itx motherboards with the h110 and z170 chipsets but I think the pcie lane splitting between chipset and cpu is causing issues with biforcation.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Edited by ptunstall - 24 Oct 2016 at 8:38am
