The specifications of the i5-2500K show the maximum memory speed Intel guarantees the CPU will support is 1333:

Any memory speed above 1333 is a memory over clock for a Sandy Bridge generation processor like the i5-2500K.

The specifications of the i7-3770K show the maximum memory speed Intel guarantees the CPU will support is 1600:

A memory OC of 2133 is excellent for an i5-2500K. Going higher to 2400 may not work at all. It depends on what memory you have, and the limits of the memory controller in your CPU. You may be at the limit of your memory controller now, as well as your memory.

What model of memory are you using, and how much do you use?

Have you tried setting the memory speed to 2400 in the UEFI/BIOS? You will normally need to set the primary memory timings to looser values. Also, increasing the DRAM voltage above 1.5V will probably be necessary.

You may also need to increase the VTT and VCCSA voltages to reach a higher memory speed. All of that are basic memory over clocking techniques. Usually DDR3 memory that is rated to work at an over clocked speed like 2133 won't go much higher, or not at all. The only way to find out if it will is to try.

I have a Z77 Pro4 with I5 2500K and 32gb of G Skill Trident X 2400 CL10 memory chips.

The motherboard is supposed to support RAM up to 2800, but the highest I can go in bios seems to be 2133. How do I make the ram run at a higher frequency?
