I am glad to see you got it sorted in the end.

Just to clarify, while google may be an invaluable tool it is just that. It can only help you if you know what to search for and how. Often times simply knowing the correct phrasing will yield an answer that the user would not have found alone. Searching simply "M.2 boot problem" for example in this instance would not find a helpful result, at least not one you would easily identify as the correct one. As to the program you linked, we do not recommend or endorse 3rd party software unless it is industry accepted, like CPUz or Aida64 for example. We provide the necessary information to fix the problem without the use of 3rd party tools. I am sorry you feel the help we took the time to provide free of charge wasn't up to your standards.

Now, for the sake of all who come by this thread let's let this drop.

Solved: The only solution I could get to work was using "Macrium Reflect Free", which once installed does a great job of gathering all your necessary drivers including nvme and creating the most thorough yet easy to use boot repair rescue USB drive I've seen.

I did notice what I consider an oddity; in the BIOS, the list of boot devices wasn't displaying all the drives unless I right clicked on any entry...then more drives would appear which I could then re-arrange. If this isn't a bug, it's not good design as it's confusing.

Anyway, for those that bump up against this problem, this works and you don't have to "Google" and replace 10 with 7, pat your head while rubbing your stomach or any other hoop jumping, here's the link :-)

On a side note, for moderators and people that responding to threads, don't you think most people google things before ending up here? The answer is yes, but sometimes the volume of choices and being forced to read dozens of entries, many of which are a complete waste of time is tedious. If you KNOW the best method, share it, if you don't then don't add to the data mass unnecessarily. I'm annoyed by people that take more time to lecture you than to simply provide the answer or at least the best link instead of snarky arguments.

Wardog meant replace windows 10 with windows 7 in the search. The info is all there at a simple click. We moderators do our best to help forum members. We offer our aid free of charge in support of this community, we are not employed by ASRock. Reiterating information that can be found with a simple google search is rather pointless and time consuming, especially for a very common, well documented issue.

I couldn't have made it any simpler with the exception of coming there and doing it for you.

And, I am not "one of THOSE guys" yet I do expect that someone whose built their own system not to reply with "Not sure what I'm looking at from the link, I'm not familiar with Linux and I'm on 7 not 10. It's also MBR." when I supply a link that with a two digit deletion and a one digit substitution your answer of how to repair what you've gone and done.

Your question didn't require that I post the method for you. I expect folks to use their noggin some here instead of me typing out a 10 paragraph How To.

The link provided was workable w/o you having to reply but instead apply that gray matter of yours.

Just substitute the 10 for 7 then. Are you at all familiar with using Google?

As of now, my machine won't boot unless I manually choose the partition each time I restart and I'm not sure how to fix it.

When it worked; I put together a new system; Taichi MB, 6800k, 950 Pro M.2 and several other drives. BIOS options for boot were set to CSM enabled, Legacy only on all 3 choices (oprom included). I installed w7 onto an SSD drive, then used the Samsung clone tool to transfer it over the to the m.2 and it worked fine.

THEN I bought a 2nd M2 soley to deal with testing W10 or another W7 install without deleted the current one. Well when I did a fresh install, I didn't disconnect all the drives and the boot loader was on another SSD, without thinking I deleted it. Now I get boot errors with either drive and the 950 pro doesn't show up in the BIOS boot options. If I install W10 onto it, it shows up. Didn't realize BIOS looked for bootloader on other drives and doesn't show up if there's a problem?

Windows 7 repair disk complains it can't work for some reason so all the repair methods I've read so far won't work.

I use Backupper alot and that failed too when choosing "restore system" so I'm out of ideas except to reinstall 7 again to another SSD and clone it back?

Is there an easier way?
