Are your M.2 drives NVMe? If so have you noticed any difference from a regular SSD? No measurable changes noticed. I've been running it in write back cache mode and haven't seen any file corruption either Smile

And just for fun I tried upping the processor speed to 5.0ghz and it booted fine but locked going into windows.  I'll get around to trying to overclock it more sometime but 4.5ghz will keep me happy for a while.

Got the other 2 sticks installed and everything seems to be running smooth.  If any problems happens I'll post here to let people know there might be some compatibility issues but otherwise looks like this board fully supports these sticks in 2 or 4 stick configurations once the bios is updated.  Was going to post a pic of the Asrock tuning app open but I've never bothered to learn to use imgur or other online hosting sites so unless someone has an interest or knows how I can post a jpg file easily you'll have to take my word for it.  Big smile

Good to know.  I don't use raid in my main rig (Leave that job to my server and NAS).  I was thinking of getting an M.2 SSD but decided to be happy with the 500gb SSD I have now and wait till prices come down and size goes up some to get one of those.  Will keep the drivers in mind for when I do get one eventually.  Honestly this system is overkill for what I usually do which is why I have been dealing with my server video card for longer than I should (have my server's 960gtx in the rig right now till I RMA my 980gtx).  Hopefully other than the video card I'll be able to get another 4-5+ years out of this setup.

The latest 7.30 UEFI has both an updated MEI and IRST ROM for those of us running RAID and m.2 devices. Also the ASRock site has new motherboard drivers to support the changes to the UEFI.

Thanks for the advice.  Will definitely follow it.  Unless I have further problems I don't think I'll reflash it to an older version.  Again horror memories from flashing going wrong from many years ago makes me want to not do any more flashing than absolutely necessary.  What would be the benefit of going to an older version out of curiosity?

You had an over one year old UEFI version, and there have been some important updates since then.

Memory compatibility improvements are common in UEFI updates now. There are two memory compatibility updates since version 2.10, you have all of them now. DDR4 memory is still in its childhood, only two PC platforms currently support it, Intel X99 and Intel 100 series chipset boards, like your Z170. That will change in 2017.

If and when you put your other DIMMs in the board, I suggest you do this: First save your current UEFI settings in a profile, which is done in the OC Tweaker page. Then shutdown the PC, remove AC power, open it up and insert you other DIMMs. Use the jumper on the board to clear UEFI/BIOS, put it back in the normal position, put it all back together and start it up. After the UEFI clear, ALL the options will be back to there default settings, so you'll need to restore them manually or with the saved profile. I suggest trying all your memory at its default speed first, which is most likely 2133, which will be set by default.

If the PC boots with all the memory at 2133, use it for a while like that, and then try to increase the speed. Normally, the more memory used, the more difficult it is to operate it at high speeds. You can see that shown in your boards Memory Support List. At the highest memory speeds, only two DIMMs can usually be used, but that is at speeds above 3200. You may not reach 3200 with all your memory, or it will take some adjustment to get it there, or close to it.

And you might probably should drop back to the latest non 7.xx BIOS, 3.10, as the 7.xx ones address the as of yet unreleased Kaby Lake processors.
