Too much pressure from a CPU cooler can cause the pins in the socket to move off the "lands", or contact points on the bottom of the CPU. That can result in weird problems like yours.<br><br>Are you using the Intel or ASMedia SATA ports for your drive?<br>]]>

The general specs say it is X99 and 100 series compatible.<br><br>Assuming you have the Fatal1ty Z170 Professional Gaming i7.<br><br>Since you have 8GB DIMMs, try putting them in the A1 an <strike>A2 </strike>slots. Then clear the UEFI/BIOS with the board's jumper, and try again.<br><br>EDIT: That should be the A1 and B1 slots, sorry about that!!<br><br><br><span style="font-size:10px"><br /><br />Edited by parsec - 23 Dec 2016 at 12:36pm</span>]]>

First things first. Contact Corsair and inquire if this kit is or isn't compatible with the Z170 Pro Gaming i7.<br><br><br><br>Please post back when they reply.<br>]]>
