Would you believe it.

Found a 15 year old PSU and frankensteined something together and it boots. Seems that the PSU has packed up in some sense or other.

Will have to source a replacement now with the required number of sata connectors. Battery is out and I'll wait a while.  Doing some reading I've seen a faulty PSU being suggested but as it's been working fine I don't think it would be that.

Have you tried removing the battery and pulling power from the system for an hour or so? ok so I got a replacement RAM module.  Same issue.

Have tried resetting the CMOS as ASRock suggested,  checked alternative video outputs, still dead.

All ears to any other suggestions.

Hi,

I think I've already worked this out but would like a second opinion.

Finished rebuilding my htpc with this board and some new ram. Everything else is as was.

Turn it on and drives spin up but no display. So I get a speaker (case doesn't have one) and connect that, no post beeps.

Disconnect everything (disks, pcie card, USB connectors, audio) bar the minimum and try again. Nothing again.

So I remove the RAM and then at last get a post. 3 beeps repeating.

Fairly certain that's it just telling me there's no ram installed - leading me to believe the issue is a faulty ram chip. Don't have another to test with, don't have another compatible pc to try the ram in.

RAM is an 8GB crucial stick with the same part number listed on the asrock compatibility chart - CT102464BF186D.
