Thanks guys your replies got my rig going.

I would try to boot and got stuck on the asrock boot page with no codes and no response from keyboard. Linux mint, Linux 16, Multiple hard-drives, one clone backup and 16+18+20 install disks.

Mint messed with my bios. Had to reset using clrcmos1 jumper and got code 99. removed my video card (GTX750TI) and plug an old monitor with a 15 pin directly to the board.

I was also experiencing this issue - seemed like I hit F11 or F2 or DEL or anything, and no matter what, it didn't accept my input. I do have a Logitech G213 keyboard - so I guess that's considered a gaming keyboard...

So I tried a dead-simple solution
  1. Turn off power
  2. unplug keyboard
  3. wait 10 seconds (don't know why but they all say to do so)
  4. turned system on

Woohoo, finally got it working! As suggested by parsec, it was a matter of clearing the BIOS/CMOS, and I can now get back into the settings to return to my original task of getting a live USB booting.

Thanks again to everyone who chipped in suggestions to get this fixed :)

Apologies again for the delay in replying - my wifi decided to screw up as well so I've been spending the last few days fixing that issue before turning my attention to this problem (which all started when I was trying to get a Linux Mint live USB to boot properly...).

I was attempting to procure a PS/2 keyboard this week but had no luck, so I'll try the clear BIOS option over this weekend and get back to you. Thanks again for your assistance so far...

Seriously, the very first support request I sent you guys (as well as the first post on this forum) explicitly stated that I'd tried multiple devices on multiple ports with no luck. I then responded to this exact (seemingly) pro forma response close to a week ago clarifying this fact and asking for more assistance, with no reply from you guys whatsoever.

I'm very grateful that the ASRock community has been so generous with their time, because your attempts at 'assistance' so far have been terrible.

Given your mouse and keyboard refuse to work, you will need to clear the BIOS/CMOS.

This is the procedure to do that:

The PC must be shutdown/ shut off. The PSU power switch in the Off position. AC power removed from the PSU, unplug the PSU.

Open up the PC case. The Clear CMOS jumper is on the lower right side of the board, not far above the screw in the lower right corner. CLRCMOS1 is written on the board by the jumper.

Remove the jumper from the center and pin on the left, and move it over one pin so it is on the center pin and pin on the right side. Leave it in that position for a minute. You can also remove the battery from the board temporarily for a complete BIOS clear, usually not needed.

After the minute, put the jumper back on the center and left pin, the normal position. Connect the battery again if it was removed.

The procedure is complete. Put the PC back together, connect power to the PSU, and try to start it.

If you've been using USB 3.0 ports for the mouse and keyboard, don't bother. Use the USB 2.0 ports, since all keyboards transmit data at less than USB 1.1 rates.

If this still does not work, the BIOS was corrupted for some reason, and we'll need to see how we can update the BIOS without a working keyboard. Confused

I had the same issue yesterday. You must have switched off some usb option in UEFI. Under Advanced options->USB Configuration->Legacy USB Support  and switch to UEFI only or enable. I disabled that option and couldn't get to BIOS. Do you have any PS/2 keyboard? If yes, plug it in and restart to UEFI again, your "new" keyboard should work, then change the setting I mentioned above.
Here's a quote from my manual (Z270m Pro4):
