Currently, it seems that 3840x2160@60Hz is only working for me, with HDMI firmware 1.36 and Intel driver 21.20.16.4627
4:4:4=OK on my system with Win10pro version 1703 build 15063.250.

Intel driver 4629 refuses 60Hz again.

Every other HDMI firmware from Asrock fails with my system at 3840x2160@60Hz with Intel driver 21.20.16.4627.

You might want to be more specific about the system than just an "ASRock mainboard".

Specifically, a system using the Intel J3455 processor, since that is the source of the video output.

Or better, the Intel® HD Graphics 500, which is what you are using, and the Intel graphics driver for HD 500 graphics. The OS type and version are also important, since the Intel graphics driver can/will be different for each type and version.

Otherwise, my "ASRock mainboard" can display those files over HDMI fine. But that PC has zero in common with yours.
It's true, my question was quite unspecific... back then I was very desperate to find an answer. And I was angry that none of my components (HD500/LSPCON/TV) were telling me what they were doing. I'm an IT dev since 15 years, so I love debug output ;)

  • I would now say that any HD graphics newer than 500 can do DP 1.2 and UHD 60Hz 4:4:4 8bit
  • the LSPCON from MegaChips (onboard ASRock/Gigabyte etc) and ParadeTech (external Club3D) don't seem to interfere
  • if the HDMI cable is quite short the quality seems to be irrelevant
I've heard that some TVs convert all inputs to YCrCb 4:2:2 for internal processing... I'm afraid my Philips TV falls into that category.
What TV are you using?

For the other Samsung TV, have you also enabled HDMI UHD Color and set the input type to PC?
Do you need to plug it into a particular HDMI input (maybe labelled DVI or PC)?

For the Philips TV, have you plugged into HDMI 3 or 4 and set UHD 4:4:4?

If it works for one TV, then I'd start with the settings in the other TV's that could be modified (not necessarily the PC settings).

I don't know if ASRock ever released the 1.24 firmware on their website, as that is what came shipped with my motherboard (ASRock Z170 Fatal1ty Gaming ITX/ac), and 1.36 was available for download when I got my board.

The other versions released on the ASRock website for my board:
1.36 - I had audio dropping issues (HDMI audio output would disappear) and wake from sleep problems with this version.
1.48+ - I had wake from sleep issues here, needing a computer shut down and turn on again.
1.61 - This is what I am currently using and it is definitely the most stable. The only thing I do notice is sometimes after waking the monitor, my app windows are re-sized smaller into the top left corner. Not a huge deal, and I can live with this.

Intel has published:
1.65 - I have not tried this one. The package from Intel contains both the 1.61 and 1.65 versions and seems to be labelled for different boards. I am hesitant to move to this one.
Similarly, Gigabyte appeared to release 1.42 around the same time ASRock released 1.48+, so I am not sure if there are minor variations between vendors with the versions.

I am using a Samsung UA55KS8000WXXY. As suggested the other day, setting it to 4K@60Hz and "PC" picture mode I can get 4:4:4 chroma using the sample images above.

I have PM'ed you about the 1.36 firmware.
