We test on the same model with similar system and use DOS BIOS update method from L1.54 to P1.50, the BIOS update process can run successfully. 
The system could boot up properly under BIOS or OS after downgrading the BIOS.

Unfortunately the socketed BIOS has been phased out due to supply issues. if you know what the chip is called and fancy a little DIY you can buy the chips off bay of e with bios's already on them just a simple install but if its under warranty better to have them do it for future reference they cost very little and are great if you can revive a dead board for a few quid. usually this method takes less time long as you know what your doing

Confirmed with ASRock Technical Support. Stated I was updating the BIOS, it froze, I waited, then I powered down. That's definitely my oversight. It's unfortunate there's no ability to recover via USB drive or dual bios, though. Seems like an easy to implement solution.

This is an excerpt from the DOS BIOS Update instructions for all ASRock boards:

If you encounter problems while updating the new BIOS, DO NOT turn off your system since this corrupt BIOS might cause your system failed to boot up. Just repeat the process, and if the problem still persists, update the original BIOS file. If the Flash Memory Writer utility was not able to successfully update a complete BIOS file, your system may not be able to boot up. If this happens, your system will need service.

Re-creating a bootable stick isn't exactly what I call work. But anyways ..........

I will add that a stick in the 4-16GB range from Users posts here seem to be less troublesome.

The PC, when the USB stick is in, has power to the USB, then I hit the power button, it removes power from the USB, then I get HDD activity light flashing in sync with the USB stick light, then it turns the USB light off. It's at that point that the board says F9 and has basically given up. There's no automatic restarting occurring or anything but just on after that, no activity.

It makes me think that what's on the USB drive for a file is not what it's looking for. The file I have, is downloaded from ASRock, and is a X370TC154.exe file. This is what's extracted from the DOS update zip file. I've also tried making an autoexec.bat file with only X370TC154.exe in it.

Regarding the USB stick. I've generally been trying only a USB stick with nothing in it except the X370TC154.exe. I've also tried my bootable USB and I know indeed it is working. I've tried it on my other PC, as well as updated my BIOS with it before when 1.51 came out.

How can it brick? Doesn't the Taichi have dual bios/UEFI (or a recovery rom)? If not, that's a huge fail for a board in that price category. Also doesn't Asrock boards have that "Crashless" feature for uefi update?
