She'll run with 8GB sticks just fine. It's an older board and apparently they haven't updated the QVL in a while.

Instead, use the below tools to find Guaranteed Compatible memory for your motherboard.

I checked memory compatibility list at http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/970A-G3.1/?cat=Memory and found that only 4GB max. modules are supported officially.

I want to use 8Gb modules. Do you guys have any experience with this mb and large modules?
