I would try another PSU first.

3 beeps is usually memory but it's 3+3 in your description so that could mean something else. I would start by swapping out the PSU. If that doesn't help then post back.

    Author: nixonxsor
Subject: 5288
Posted: 02 Jun 2017 at 4:07pm

Hello folks,

I have a AsRock Z77 Pro3 LGA1155 motherboard with an Intel I7-3770 installed on it. And I have a very strange problem. I don't turn my PC very often, and that's ok. The PC can stat up for a month or more. But when I finally want to reset it or turn it off for any reason and try turning it back on - fail. Sometimes it start up and sometimes not. Sometimes it can be fixed just by restarting it and sometimes I have to remove all my hardware and replace it back.

So what's happening?

The PC is off, I'm clicking the power button, the fans start working and I hear 3 fast beeps, a small pause and another 3 beeps. And here we have some different scenarios:
- I click the reset button and the PC comes on.
- I click the reset buttons 2-3 times and the PC comes on.
- I open the case, remove RAM or GPU and reseat them and the pc comes on.
- I open the case, remove RAM or GPU and reseat them and the PC starts to beep 4 times and then to turn itself off or even to no beep but just turn off; then after a few another tries it comes back on.

But I don't think this is ok. I have replaced my RAM, I'm using 2x4GB DDR3 Kingston HyperX 1600MHZ sticks. I have recently pulled out my CPU and changed the thermal paste. Yesterday I removed my GPU and now I'm typing this post on my PC. But this is bothering me. I can't anywhere find what are these beeps. And can't find anyone with my problem. What's faulty ? Where's the problem?

Thanks for anyone's reply in advance! I appreciate it.
