ASRock Forums : E3C226D2I Will Not Restart

I thought about this problem and came up with an idea. My idea was to upgrade the BIOS. The BIOS version that came with the motherboard when I purchased it (2015) was 2.10. The latest version is 3.30. I downloaded the Windows application to flash the BIOS. That failed. I downloaded the instant flash version and ran it from a USB flash drive. This did not go well. It appeared to install. There were a couple of progress bars. When they finished, the screen went black. I left it that way for about twenty minutes because there are warnings everywhere to not turn off the computer while this process is running. After twenty minutes, I felt I had given it more than enough time to succeed or not. I gave in and decided it failed. I turned the computer off. Then I clicked the start button and the motherboard would not post. I even pulled the motherboard and tried to get it to post using the bread board technique. Could not get it to post. I opened a ticket with ASRock and William Lee responded almost immediately. He asked me only one question, "Would like you me to send you a pre-flashed BIOS eprom?". I obviously said yes. It arrived yesterday and I installed it in the motherboard still in its bread board condition. It posted right away. I was so relieved. I put everything back together and tested running the OS (Windows Server 2012 R2). I clicked the restart button and kept my fingers crossed. The computer shutdown and then like a Phoenix arising from the ashes, it restarted. I realize this problem is not often encountered. I am sure that explains why I received no replies to my original post. This might work for someone else in the future. My only advice is to be careful about flashing the BIOS. It's tricky and it's easy to corrupt it.
