The manual is a bit confusing.

/Rune

Your board uses dual processors, each processor supporting quad (four) channels of memory. Each of the four memory channels are labeled with a different letter. One processor's memory channels are labeled A, B, C, D, and the other processor's memory channels are labeled E, F, G, H. Since your board supports one DIMM per channel, each of the channel letters has a '1' next to it.

Since you have four 16GB DIMMs, and usually you would give each processor an equal amount of memory, you will use two 16GB DIMMs for each processor. So each processor will be running in dual channel (two channel) memory mode. That would be the optimal configuration when using four DIMMs.

None of the memory channels for a processor has priority over the other, so it does not matter which channels you select for each processor. So the two memory slots you select for each processor can be any two you prefer.

For example you could put two DIMMs in the A1 and B1 channels of the first CPU, and two DIMMs in the E1 and F1 channels of the second CPU. Or you could put the DIMMs in the G1 and H1 channels of the second CPU, if you want all the DIMMs on the same side of the board simply for appearance.
