Even then, it only tightens timings, it does not actually overclock the memory frequency from what I have seen on my own H170 Performance/Hyper. That said I only tried it once. It's a great board but memory overclocking does not work on most RAM kits. If I remember correctly there were only a handful of compatible RAM modules it works with. Once intel forced ASRock and other manufacturers to disable OCing on non Z boards this feature was never updated again.

Bare in mind that these boards are not meant to be able to OC at all, any OC functionality is outside of recommended specs for the platform.

Edited by Xaltar - 05 Aug 2017 at 12:59am

Only certain models of memory can be used the the Non-Z DDR4 OC.

Another possibility is the CPU microcode update from Intel that stops the over clocking features on non-Z chipset boards, was also distributed for Intel by Microsoft in a Windows update. I don't know which Windows update that was, so you would need to search for it and check if your Windows installation has that particular Windows update installed. Once installed, removing the update will not also remove the CPU microcode, or going back to a previous Windows Restore point.
That means that it may not work with all models of memory.

What model of DDR4 memory are you using?

Also, we find this note in your board's Memory Support List:

Note6: The system needs discrete VGA card to support DDR4-2133+

That means if you are using the Intel iGPU, you could not operate your memory above a speed of 2133. The maximum DDR4 memory speed for Intel Skylake processors is 2133, so DDR4 Non-Z OC would operate the memory at a higher speed than 2133, and require the use of a video card.

Which UEFI/BIOS version do you have in your board?

There is also another possible reason why the DDR4 Non-Z OC feature is not available. The description for the 1.30 UEFI/BIOS version contains this:

Remove Sky OC function.

ASRock at one time tried to add a CPU over clocking feature to many of the Intel 100 series chipset boards, like your H170. That feature was called Sky OC.

Intel only allows over clocking on their 'Z' chipset boards, like the Z170, Z270, etc. Intel forced ASRock to remove the Sky OC feature from all the non-Z chipset boards. Not only was the feature removed, but Intel added a new CPU microcode to the UEFI/BIOS file that does not allow the Sky OC feature to work, even if the UEFI/BIOS options to OC were available.

Sorry to say, three possible reasons why you don't have the DDR4 Non-Z OC feature in your UEFI/BIOS.
