Sadly no, the 4690k is socket 1150, you need a Skylake socket 1151 CPU Wink

A Skylake celeron can be had for cheap or you can order a new BIOS chip for it. Failing that you can also take your board/system in to a tech and get them to flash it for you, whatever works out easiest for you.

Ahhhhhhh... would an i5-4690k work? i think that's haswell, but it's the only other CPU i have laying around ><

You need BIOS 7.0 or higher to run a Kaby Lake CPU.

You will need a Skylake CPU to flash your BIOS to the latest version or you can order a preflashed BIOS chip for your board from ASRock directly.

Hey everybody! First time post, so let me know if there's anything else needed...

mobo: ASRock Fatility Z170 Gaming K4 (p3.20 bios)
CPU: i7-7700k
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V 32GB (2x16) set - model F4-3200C16D-32GVK
PSU: EVGA G3 850W
HDD: 480GB MyDigitalSSD BPX 80mm 2280 M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe SSD
GPU: Gigabyte GEFORCE GTX 1080 Windforce

I've tried rotating both RAM sticks into each slot, removing the GPU and running from onboard video, and have verified power connections to the board for both mobo power slots as well as the PCIE Power slot (old style 4pin connector). I have also tried booting from both bios options.

The bios light will turn solid red, but there is no power to the USB ports for mouse/KB nor does any video output to the monitor (connected via DVI to onboard video). The CPU fan powers on, all case fans power on, and after a short delay of maybe 15 seconds, the CPU fan appears to power down, then powers back on. However, there is still no power to KB/Mouse or video output.

Is it my CPU? Any thoughts? :(
