Another little trick I learned is it seems you can power on with just the 24 V + 8 pin 12 V connected. The 4 pin 12 V seems to be "supplemental power" for when you are truly under load.

System works great now. 4 GHz is not as stable as I had hoped. 3.90-3.95 seems good though and matches what I have seen in my Ryzen system(s).

10 GB is sweet - I'm getting 980 MB/sec over NFS!

Oh sorry, I meant Instant Flash, not EZFlash *ahem*. I was wondering if this board ships with a BIOS that needs updating immediately before booting to avoid bricking. Otherwise I will flash from BIOS using INSTANT FLASH.

OK, I will not attach the CPU 12v / 24v cables if it makes a difference. I wasn't intending to power up during BIOS flashback.

Do I need to use Flashback to flash the latest BIOS before I boot up for the first time, or can I use EZFlash? I will be installing a 1950x. Are there any 'bricking' BIOSes?

If you mean the four and eight pin CPU power cables from the PSU, they should NOT be connected during the BIOS Flashback procedure. That is the point of only having the 24 pin ATX power connector connected to the board.

Only have the 24 pin ATX power cable from the PSU connected to the board when using the BIOS Flashback option. Don't forget to ONLY turn the PSU switch on, do NOT press the power button on the PC case! The SATA and Molex power cables do not matter, or the extra 12V graphics power cable.

Please study the procedure for the BIOS Flashback function, and note that only one of the USB ports must be used for the USB flash drive. This is taken from your board's manual:

Well I hope everyone solves the red light error. I have just purchased this motherboard, but have not built the system yet.

OK I figured it out - the corner 4 pin power connector was sideways. The blinking red seems to indicate power issues. I just did the BIOS flashback to see if anything worked on the motherboard. At this point not making any headway so I'll try re-purchasing the motherboard and see what happens.

jthomas2asrock, I really do not have any real information on what is going on in your system.  If you think you need to RMA the board, then do not worry about these questions.  Can you boot into BIOS?  If so, why are you trying to use Flash Back?  If you can, please do a F9 then F10 and tell us any debug code. If you cannot get into BIOS do a Clear CMOS, then see if you can.  Try one memory stick and then the other, one at a time.  If you are trying to boot up your system, both 8-pin and 4-pin CPU power cables need to be connected in addition to the 24-pin.  You did not comment on my Flash Back USB stick requirements, so I assume all is good.  Good luck and enjoy, John.
