Author: GPUnk
Subject: 608
Posted: 10 Aug 2015 at 10:49pm

Hello, I am looking to upgrade my motherboard X79 Extreme11, and would like to hear advice. Use for 3D rendering in programs like 3DS Max, Cinema4D, Octane Render, etc, with multiple graphic cards taking advantage of its 7 PCIE slots, 72 total PCIE lanes, and ability to enable 4G decoding in the bios.

I found this motherboard to be very versatile and would be looking for the same in an X 99 model, but not sure if possible:

X79 had:
72 PCIE lanes
7 PCIE slots
Bios capable of 4G decoding

Looked at X99 WS 10 G, also has 7 PCIE slots, however I don't know how many PCIE lanes. With 4G decoding, I saw in a review it did not have 4G option in bios (which would allow you to extend IO address space through BIOS, allowing more GPU)

Then there is X99 Extreme 11, which has 4G decoding in bios, but only has 5 slots, and I am not sure about total amount of PCIE lanes.

Any ideas, thanks so much!
