However, if the primary BIOS is corrupted or damaged, just flip the BIOS Selection Switch to "B", then the backup BIOS will take over on the next system boot. <br>After that, use "Secure Backup UEFI" in the UEFI Setup Utility to duplicate a working copy of the BIOS files to the primary BIOS to ensure normal system operation. <br>For safety issues, users are not able to update the backup BIOS manually.     <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://forum.asrock.com/member_profile.asp?PF=7091">russellw</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 6374<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 20 Oct 2017 at 2:13pm<br /><br />Good afternoon<div>&nbsp;</div><div>After&nbsp;performing a BIOS update earlier today (to resolve a fan speed issue) the PC failed to boot.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>Previous version: 1.30</div><div>New version: 4.20</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>The secondary BIOS simply returned a 10 error (and still does).</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>After removing all but one stick of memory, the machine booted into the BIOS and I flashed it&nbsp;down to 3.90 which seems to be even worse.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>It now boots to the ASROCK BIOS menus (press F2 etc.) but doesn't respond to keyboard input from the same PS2 keyboard used to perform the 4.20 to 3.960 flash downgrade.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>Plugging a USB keyboard into any USB port just pouts it into a boot loop.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>The DR Debug LED shows a 0d error but the description of that error is little help.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>The CPU is an A8 5600 (AD560KWOA44HJ); the memory is Corsair Vengeance CMY8GX2133C11 both of which are on the compatibility list. There is one 4G stick in slot 2 as that's the configuration that worked for the 4.20 to 3.90 downgrade.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>There is nothing in the PCI slots so apart from the 1 stick of RAM and CPU the only other things connected are the boot SSD (an Intel one),&nbsp;the 3 HDD on SATA ports and a SATA BD-RW drive.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>I've reset the CMOS (multiple times) and even removed the CMOS battery for an hour.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>I can't be without the machine so unless someone here has a clue, it will be a new board CPOU and RAM job tomorrow.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>Thanks for reading</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>Russ</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp;</div>]]>
