You can use a Linux Live bootable USB drive and back up your data before a reinstall.</div><div><br></div><div>If it is a system password (set up in UEFI) then you can remove power from the system (unplug power cord), open up the case, pull the CMOS battery and place the Clear CMOS jumper in the clear position. Leave the system like this for about an hour, put the Clear CMOS jumper back to it's normal position and replace the battery. This should clear any system passwords and restore you to UEFI defaults.</div><div><br></div><div>Reloading UEFI defaults from within the UEFI typically does not clear system passwords.</div>]]>
