Author: toffty
Subject: 7806
Posted: 24 Feb 2018 at 1:45pm

I purchased an AB350M-HDV for use with a 2200G for use in an HTPC and I've run into a few problems.

The following is what i did prior to the problems popping up and I have the specific problems underlined.

First of all, as expected, the BIOS needed to be updated to support the 2200G. The bios the MB came with initially was either 2.3 or 2.4. I took my Ryzen 5 from my other computer and used it while I first upgraded the MB to 3.4 then to 4.4 (as explained on the BIOS page: https://www.asrock.com/MB/AMD/AB350M-HDV/index.asp#BIOS)

Everything good so far.

At this point I had also tested the 2200G on my other MB (which was also up to date) and it ran fine. So i swapped CPUs so the AB350M-HDV now has the 2200G.

Boots fine and got windows 10 64bit installed and it's working fine on my monitor - ultra wide 3440x1440 via HDMI - shut it down and moved it to my TV (note: I did not notice if the fan was still on when i flicked the psu's switch at this point).

Once I had it downstairs and plugged into the TV (also by HDMI as the MB does not have DP (well neither does the)), once windows booted to windows I installed the AMD drivers (straight from AMD site (version 17.40.3701-feb12)) and rebooted, windows came up but the screen was only half rendered. The left half of the screen was correctly rendered but the right half was blue with the recycling icon smeared across the top of it. (subsequent times will cause the screen to be totally green). I've found putting the computer to sleep momentarily and waking it will fix this problem. Ruled out refresh rate on 4kx2k TV @ 29, 30 59, and 60 fps

Next, if i let the computer sleep for too long it cannot be turned on either by mouse/keyboard or power button. The CPU fan is spinning though (never turns off). As a first attempt to fix this problem I disabled hibernate but it did not fix the issue

Last issue, if i either put the computer to sleep or turn the computer off, the CPU fan never turns off. In the case of shutting down, the computer cannot be turned back on until a hard shut down (hold the power button until the cpu fan turns off)

I think I've ruled out the CPU as it was working fine on my other MB (Fatal1ty AB350 Gaming K4)

Edited by toffty - 24 Feb 2018 at 3:06pm
