It requires some serious messing around with the BIOS programming but it has been done. I wouldn't recommend it, no doubt the unofficial nature of it will cause issues but it is interesting none the less.

I may give it a look myself if I can pick up an 8th gen i3 on sale, I have a few 100 series boards laying about I could try it out on. An 8th gen i3 with 16gb of DDR3 could be interesting. It's a pity we won't see any official support, I highly doubt intel would allow it.

I have a new build (my 2nd ever) I put everything together and then plugged in the power flipped the switch on the psu and I get LEDs on the board. I press the power button no luck. No fans spin no beeps no visual changes. I took everything out put it back in. Replugged every cable still no luck.

I then took it out of the case and plugged in cpu and mobo power and had the motherboard on a cardboard box. Ram in a2 and b2. Then did the screwdriver trick with the pins. No luck still no fans nothing.

I returned the board and got a replacement. Rinced repeated. Still no luck (did cardboard box setup as explained above). Thermal paste was applied properly it wasn't overflowing to pins. No bent pins (at least that I can see). I was very careful took precautions and worked slowly.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Specs below:
Cpu: Intel I7-8700k
Ram: Corsair vengeance LPX 16 gb ddr4-3000
Mobo: Asrock z270 extreme 4
Psu: EVGA supernova 750 watt
