I'm having the exact same problem on my Wife's rig, but my "cycle" was 3-5 seconds.

When i changed the PCI-E power cable for another one (same PSU), the cycle extended to 15 seconds or so.

I noticed that the CPU fan isn't spinning, if i try enough times it will boot up eventually.

It would boot, screen would stay black then turn itself on and off a few times before finally booting. It turns out that the memory I was using was not on the compatibility chart. I swapped the memory I had for one in the chart and it's been working without issue ever since. I was a bit disappointing since this was the only time I've ever put memory into any PC that wasn't on a QVL chart and actually didn't work. It may be that this Z370 series is fussy about memory. Anyway, provided that everything is installed correctly this may be your culprit.

    Author: Alielsheikh
Subject: 8282
Posted: 04 Apr 2018 at 5:55pm

Hello
I just upgraded today to an Asrock z370 killer sli motherboard, i5-8600k cpu and ddr4 ram. So basically after connecting everything, it would only boot up for about a second and turn off instantly. I checked to make sure everything was connected in the correct spot and nothing was loose which they were all correct. I then unplugged my chassis fans and it would boot for about 30 seconds and then turn off (this occurs repeatedly in a cycle by itself until i turn off the psu) there would be no display appearing on my monitor either. I tried everything I could think of and find off the web but absolutely nothing is working. I also have a red flashing light on the motherboard when I have the psu on.

What I have tried so far:
-loosing screws on motherboard
-taking the motherboard outside of case
-disconnecting everything on the motherboard except for the necessary stuff
-only using 1 ram stick and trying it in every ram slot
- reseating the cpu
-taking battery out and putting it back

Still getting the same result of red flashing light with no display and cycle of turning on for about 30 seconds exactly (I timed it every time) and then turning off

The power supply is working fine when connecting to my old gigabyte z68xp-ud3 motherboard and works fine with chassis fans connected.

I cannot check if there?™s a problem with the new cpu as I don?™t have a motherboard that supports 8th gen intel processors

I have run of ideas to try and I?™m starting to think maybe it?™s the motherboard but I don?™t wanna give up on it just yet

Please let me know what you guys think and if you have any solutions that could possibly be the problem for this, thank you so much for your help!!!
