Author: v0dka
Subject: 8373
Posted: 13 Apr 2018 at 4:10pm

I recently got the X99 Taichi to replace an X99 Strix Gaming that suddenly fried.

Using an 6850k and Corsair Vengeance 3000Mhz C15 kit of 32GB. The problem is memory performance.

After a little research I stumbled onto a Tomshardware review that states that Asrock opted for safe secondary and tertirary timings gimping meory performance on this board. Link: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/asrock-x99-taichi-motherboard,5135-4.html

I get about 400 H/m less when mining memory intensive algorithms.

Can anyone confirm that memory is limited by the Asrock board and/or needs a lot of tweaking compared to for example the Asus board? I'm currently running 3000Mhz at 15-17-16-32 1T which is tighter than before but at about 10% loss in performance. Overclocked the cache to 3500Mhz with no difference in performance at all. BCLK is at 125 as per the XMP profile.

Other settings haven't been tweaked just set the voltages to prevent stupid auto volts. On that subject is my second question: the System Agent offset is +0.55v by default and this seems absurd? Stock should be around 0.95v which means you're feeding it 1.5v? Also the BIOS does not display the voltage currently set for the system agent so that adds to the confusion. What program do you use to measure the actual system agent voltage set in BIOS?

I should add that I have no stability issues.

Thanks for your help on these 2 questions.
