Author: Xaltar
Subject: 8450
Posted: 20 Apr 2018 at 3:31pm

The 320 chipset boards are firmly in the "budget" section of the market. Incorporating more than basic HDMI would not be cost effective. The output is purely there for APUs which, even at the best of times, are not really able to push high resolution displays to the limits of the 1.4 standard.

So there would be no benefit to HDMI 2.0+ on any AM4 board, even the R5 2400g would be unable to push more than 30fps at 4k in games (maybe very old titles) and with video you don't often see anything 4k higher than 30hz anyway.

Tech support gave a good tip too:

resolution up to 4K x 2K (4096x2160) @ 24Hz / (3840x2160) @ 30Hz

When you see this spec on a product sheet, it always means HDMI 1.4

Edited by Xaltar - 20 Apr 2018 at 3:31pm
