Author: Obligatory
Subject: 8567
Posted: 01 May 2018 at 5:16am

Have had my 1700x since Sep 2017, and recently decided to attempt overclocking.

System: 1700x
FlareX 3200 CL14 1.35V
X370 Taichi
Noctua NH-U12S
EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G2
BIOS P3.20
-Using Overclock mode at manual, frequency set to 3850mhz and CPU Voltage set to 1.3750
-Voltage mode set to OC Mode, both LLC set to level 2
-Cool'n'Quiet enabled
-C6 disabled
-Global Cstate disabled

I think im stable with 3850mhz @ 1.3750v. However, during cinebench testing and Prime95 testing Hwinfo64 reports my cpu voltage for my Ryzen 7 to be anywhere from 1.310v (Cinebench) to 1.337v (30 mins Prime95 testing) while at 100% load and running at 3850mhz. Temp won't exceed 74degrees C during the entire testing session. While Idling, my CPU voltage is at the bios defined 1.3750v...

My question is, why can't I use that 1.337 voltage (or a tad higher, like 1.34v)for my Cpu core voltage in my bios? From testing, anything under 1.375v with a 3850mhz clock and I'll have issues during testing or won't boot to windows.

I feel like I either am not interpreting Hwinfo64's information correctly, or my understanding of BIOS Core Voltage is in correct... I feel like while under load my processor should be using 1.3750v, because that's what's set in my bios.

Thoughts, questions, suggestions are all welcomed.

Thank you in advance!
