Author: ASr0ckZ170
Subject: 86361
Posted: 23 Dec 2024 at 8:31pm

Please note: I am not very technical and would appreciate your support in making my desktop configuration Windows 11 compatible while improving graphical capabilities.

In order to allocate some money for a new graphic card I would like to keep the mainboard re-configuration cost at a minimum while still making sure the approach is reasonable and new components will work together.

Mainboard: Asrock Z170 Gaming K6,
CPU: Intel Core i5 PC 1151 6MB cache 3,2 GHz
Cooler: BeQuiet Shadow Rock 2
Power Supply: BeQuiet E10-CM-500W
RAM: DDR4 32GB PC 2400 CL15
Graphic Card: GeForce GTX 950 GAMING 2G

On the ASROCK homepage I found a list of supported CPU?™s and I am not sure if I read this correctly.
https://www.asrock.com/MB/Intel/Fatal1ty%20Z170%20Gaming%20K6/index.de.asp#CPU

Would I be able to use an i7-7700K(B0) CPU on the Z170?
Would the cooler still fit?
Would the DDR4 RAM cause conflict with the new CPU?
Would that pass the windows 11 validity check?
Would that blow my power supply performance forcing me to buy a new one?

I am not a heavy gamer but I do enjoy Flight Simulators. Unfortunately using flight becomes frustrating with freezing screens and resolution issues. Due to the more detailed photorealistic scenery and large photometry data my old GeForce realy needs to be retired.

What graphic card would still fit into this configuration while really improving the perception of a smooth game?

Could be that my approch is complete nonsense. In that case I would appreciate some options for a completely new configuration while trying to keep some of the modules...like the FRactal ATX Midi case at least...
