Author: matthys70
Subject: 87698
Posted: 28 Dec 2024 at 7:07pm

Hello,

I recently upgraded the CPU for my ASRock B550 Steel Legend with the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X.
To be sure I also upgraded the BIOS to latest (stable) version: P3.40

But now I notice this behaviour and wonder if this is normal or if there is a fix;

The Post BIOS screen (with logo and option to enter BIOS or Boot Manager) is in high-res. But as soon as I enter the BIOS it's low resolution in 1024x768. Also to get into BIOS is very slow. It really takes ages after hitting F1 or Del key.

What I noticed is if I change the BIOS option for CSM (Boot\CSM = Compatibility Support Module) to disable I get low-res as mention above. But if I enable (the default?) the Post screen is low-res but into BIOS it's 1980x1080.

For now I have set the CSM to disabled, as I'm using Windows 11.
But still wonder why it's so slow and why the difference in resolution.

Thanks,
Matthijs
