I suspect it was actually hanging on the disk for some reason but i have no clue that was a few years ago and it seems to work now. I'll probably replace this motherboard in the next 18 months just haven't decided if i will go with amd or intel next round.]]>

One of these days I will upgrade to something new but so far i've not had an immediate need.]]>

Thanks. Yea it is getting a bit old. A2 seems to be initializing the disk sub system but i couldn't find B6. Hum. If ice-lake comes out by Nov maybe I'll 'upgrade'. System doesn't seem that old but certainly isn't new.]]>

Asrock uses AMI BIOS which some boot codes can be found here, but they are a bit old: http://www.bioscentral.com/postcodes/amibios.htm<br>I am thinking you may have bumped something while you "fixed some sata cables", could be ram or some other connection. Have you tried pulling the ram and reseating it ? Note: That board was built around 2011/2012 and would be very susceptible to damage unless you took specific cautions when working on it.
