Dual-channel or other mixes will be highly sub-optimal performance-wise.<br /><br />4x16GB would be ideal, as you'll have more room to grow later, esp. with newer CPU, which will have better IMC.<br /><br />I can't really advise you on the exact brand or model for X399, as I haven't simply have this platform to play with. I see however, that AX4U300038G16-DRS are listed in the QVL as 2/4/8 slots compatible @ 2933MT/s. Others on the Internet claim 4x8 (and even 4x16) @ 3200MT/s with some Flare X models (Sammy B-die), so I guess it really boils down to a bit of luck.]]>
