Same problem here with my X470 Taichi + Orico USB3.0 external hard drive dock, the other one USB3.1 gen 2 (Century) works fine. However both drives work perfectly under Linux, or under Windows 10 with a virtualbox guest + USB filter.

Not sure if it's a sole BIOS problem, but in my case I've narrowed down the problem to something to do with UASP. If I force downgrading the drive to use usb mass storage instead of UASP mode, the hard drive will work. It's annoying because the external drive works with all other PCs.

Same is happening with my X370 Taichi. I'm on the latest L4.81 beta BIOS. Win 10 RS4 and the latest AMD chipset drivers.

I'm using a Sabrent USB3.0 UASP w/ WD Red HDD. No matter which USB port on the back I choose, I always get these lock-ups. I don't have front USB ports to test but a few other laptops are not experiencing this.

According to your question, we provide some suggestions for verifying:

1. Please refer to user manual page.26 to clear CMOS.

2. Under BIOS setup, please enable/disable CSM support under Boot tab by turns to verify.

3. Please make sure the I/O cover is well contacted with the chassis.

4. If possible, please install the HDD BOX to another system to verify.

5. If possible, please install another USB device to verify if the symptom only happening with some of specific devices.

Hello, I've a problem with external USB HDD box.
When plug in USB hdd box get freeze and the hdd aren't recognized.
But removed the hdd windows 10 64 return to work properly.
Please help, tks.
