I have my monitor plugged into the HDMI port but I am not even sure that is supported on a brand X370 Pro4. SHould I expect to have video on the HDMI port with no GPU plugged in?

When I start up the PSU and turn on the MB the CPU fan turns on a sound like there is a bit of cycling going on but I have no video.

I have a AMD RX480 I can plug in but really wanted to see the on board video working. Do I need to use the DVI-D or the D-sub ports instead of HDMI? I only have HDMI monitors.
