I was using AMD Athlon X2 5200 and 800 MHz 4GB DDR2 RAM then. I had upgraded to the new hardware with a wish to run Qubes 4.0 and some other general purpose after spending a part of my savings albeit they are used hardware. Although this is not a current mobo and has been discontinued by Asrock quite a few years now( I got this exchanged with an identical board in RMA), I am quite dissapointed right now as this board supports AM3/AM3+ but does not have IOMMU supported.
In fact I think the chipset doesn't support IOMMU. If internet is to be trusted, IOMMU support starts with the 9xx series chipsets for the AM2/3 platform.

According to these guys you won't start QubeOS 4.x w/o IOMMU, or you'd need some very ugly hack to do so.

https://groups.google.com/forum/#!msg/qubes-users/UnyDPtvmoao/ehScPFvlAgAJ

Sorry, but it smells like a new mobo. :-(

I am trying to install Qubes OS 4.0 which requires AMD-V with RVI (Rapid Virtual Indexing) and AMD-Vi (aka IOMMU). I have hardware assisted virtualization enabled in the BIOS. However I am facing a message that says IOMMU is not active on your machine by the Qubes 4.0 . As far as my knowledge goes FX 4300 is capable of AMD-Vi (IOMMU). So, any clue why am I facing this message. Am I missing something ??? What changes do I have to make in BIOS ?
Please help me out as I have spend quite a bit of my savings to upgrade my processor and RAM. I come from a poor part of the world.
