Ouch, you may have to explore more DIY solutions then. You should be able to
disconnect the shroud LEDs from the GPU's ARGB headers and extend the cables so
you can connect them directly to the motherboard's ARGB headers and control them
from there. That is assuming that the RGB is important to your build. If not you
can simply disconnect them and leave them disconnected (off).

There may be ways to revive the controller on the GPU but that will require doing
some research into what controller is used, what ROM programmer you will need etc.

Unfortunately the only option they give me is to rma and I've physically modified it to fit my old pc case. Basically I shaved the end of the plastic shroud down to make it fit. Just a bit of a follow up here. This GPU has been in constant use since the time
of the review above. It is still more than up to the task of 1080p gaming, albeit
at reduced settings. I have not needed to do anything to the card other than blow
out dust when I service the system it's in.

All in all, over 6 years without issue. My opinion of the card has not changed since

Same problem on my Taichi. Before, polychrome worked fine, but connecting the GPU to the motherboard did not. So I proceeded to update the firmware, but the procedure continued indefinitely, until I had to stop it. Greetings and happy new year. I recently purchased a Phantom Gaming 7900 XTX second-hand from Newegg. I noticed a custom vBios flashed to it and it caused a host of issues. I was eventually able to flash the stock vBios and got optimum operation. I am curious of there are fairly stable custom vBios or similar bios that work for this model seeing the stock is a bit outdated.
