Hello,

I have a B350 Pro4 with a Ryzen 5 1400 that I am looking to swap with the 3300X once it launches in a couple of weeks. Is there any indication that the latest BIOS (6.30) won't work with the new chips? I know AsRock has been pretty good with updating the older 3xx series boards so not sure if I should wait for a new BIOS to come through or if the current will work.

Thanks!

theres a good chance you will get a boot with a 3300x and the latest ryzen 3000 cpu's bios

but i wouldnt say 100% certain

my 'guesstimate' is based on the current bios seeing the ryzen 3000. as a 3000........ whether it reconises it correctly as a 4 core 3300x i dont know

i would say my best advice before buying one is to wait for either

reports the 3300x works on current bios FOR YOUR BOARD , or for asrock to make a note in bios files 'added support'

In terms of updating the BIOS, my understanding is that I will keep my R5 1400 in the system, update to 5.4 bridge, and then 6.30 and then swap CPUs?

Yes, you only put in the new CPU after you have the BIOS fully updated using the
1400. Don't forget to clear CMOS with the clear CMOS jumper before you flash and
again before you power on for the first time with the 3300x. It will save you
headaches.

1400 in board
RESET BIOS TO DEFAULTS (this is important)
personally i prefer just one stick of ram in slot a2 (to minimise chance of bad data block)

then version 3.40 bridge (if your lower version at the moment)
then
version 5.40 another bridge
then version 6.30
after a flash always ideal to boot to bios save and exit then reboot to bios for flashing next step

when you have 6,30
shut down pc and fit the 3000 series
test boot to bios save and exit
fit 2 nd ram stick
boot to bios , save and exit
let it boot windows ,and close down

THEN

set the ram xmp etc in bios
