99% of the time that is all you need to do but that is not a full CMOS clear.
When you have an RTC problem and a few other rare issues a more drastic clear is needed. Someone will always think they know better. The only time I suggest pulling the battery and disconnecting power etc is when a standard clear didn't help. If you look through the threads here you will see that the more comprehensive clear has done the trick for a lot of people. Clearing CMOS as described in my sticky thread won't hurt anything and is a way to ensure there are no gremlins that didn't clear with the quick method. Also, bare in mind that the people who post here have tech skill levels ranging from abysmal to expert. The method I recommend ensures that there is a very high chance they cleared CMOS even if they missed a step or accidentally shorted the wrong pins etc. We help anyone regardless of skill level and understanding.
