I'm having an issue adding a M.2 drive to serve as a secondary application drive.
I have the Z97 PRO4 2.50 NVME update When I go to the UEFI Storage option it only lists three of the SATA drives I have force M2 set up in the UEFI storage section When I go to the UEFI NVME it does show the correct code for the M.2 SSD Motherboard: Z97 Pro4 (2.50 bios update) SSD: Western Digital 2TB M.2 2280 NVMe SSD (WDC WDS200T2B0C) I found a post online that it wouldn't be as fast as it could be due to the limitations of the board but it was backwards compatible. I have a separate OS SSD so the M2 is anticipated to just hold applications replacing one of the old SATA spinning drives. Any thought on what I'm missing? |

I kept clicking on things and figured out the issue and figured I'd post it here in the event that someone runs into the same problem.
Open up your disk manager by typing "Disk Management" into the search bar Look for Discs without any volumes, if the disk is connected you should see some unregistered volumes. Right-click those volumes and create a new simple volume, assigning it a disk letter and name. There you go, a new simple volume you can use! |
