I have a Western Digital Blue 2 TB M.2-2280 SATA Solid State Drive. The x670e is not recognizing the SSD and therefore cannot boot (Windows 10 is on the M.2 drive from previous PC)....I have it plugged into the second M.2 port, which per manual is the port for SATA M.2, and compatible with 2280. I see zero compatibility issues.....In Bios, no drives are recognized on the PC. Any help here would be great...anyone else having this issue?

To clarify it is in the M2_2 slot.

Are you overclocking the ram?
Is it an Intel?

What motherboard?

Try the other M.2 slot.

I don't see any mention of the motherboard model you have, but I just assumed they're all similar, so I looked at X670E Steel Legend documentation.

The board has two PROM21 chipsets linked together, with varying functionalities of each actually in use.

According to the manual:
1st PROM21 chipset provides m.2_4 slot.
2nd PROM21 chipset provides four SATA connectors, m.2_2 slot, and m.2_3 slot.

As far as I can find, each PROM21 chipset only supports 4 SATA devices total, whether through SATA connectors or through m.2 slots.

So, there will be some combination of SATA connector and m.2_2 / m.2_3 that won't work.

Are you by any chance using the SATA connectors as well for 2.5" drives and/or optical drives?

If you can, used the m.2_4 slot, because it's free from any conflicts, since the 1st PROM21 chipset is not used to provide any SATA connectors.

Note I didn't look at other motherboard model manuals.

I have the same problem with my X670E PG Lightning.

I have 2 NVME drives connected: 1 in M2_1 and one in M2_4. At first both worked fine, but after installing the complete AMD driver package, the one in M2_4 disappeared in Windows AND in the BIOS.
Flashing the BIOS did nothing, nor did changing RAID/AHCI settings. I even tried setting PCIe fixed to Gen4. But to no avail...

I have a feeling that AMD screwed up again with their drivers...

I am also having this problem with the AsRock X670E steel legend AM5 motherboard. The 1TB NVMe works fine in the M2_1 slot but my other NVMe 2TB (WD_BLACK SN770) shows up in the bios, but disappears when I boot into linux (Pop_OS 22.04 LTS). I have to power off the computer for it to show up in the BIOS again. I updated the bios to v1.11 but no luck. I have tried with and without ant SATA drives connected. I suspect this isn't a bios problem.

I am also having the same problem on the Asus X670E Taichi board. I have all 4 M2 Slots filled with 2 TB Drives. Sometimes they will reappear and other times not. I am using Windows 11

I resolved my problem in Linux. Seens like the M.2 drives being detected, but dmesg was reporting them in a invalid power state. When I did as suggested from dmesg with the following, the drives have been working.
sudo kernelstub -a "nvme_core.default_ps_max_latency_us=0"

Similar problem with X670E PG Lightning and ADATA SX8200PNP. Sometimes it's not recognized at all, other times the PC won't boot, or it stops working randomly, or it crashes with storport.sys DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION BSOD. I tried moving it to another slot and it's still not fixed. The data on the SSD is not corrupted so I'm assuming the SSD is okay
