I have a X570 Taichi, and I was using it with a 2700X, but I upgraded my CPU to a 5950X. Before with the 2700X, Windows 7 worked fine, however now with the 5950X, only Windows 8 or newer works. Windows 7 gives a 0x000007E error at boot. I was also testing the CPU in a MSI X470 Gaming Pro Carbon, and it boots fine on that board. This tells me that the problem is this board, I am really starting to dislike this board.

I think you have it wrong, it is not the board. The issue is the lack of driver support for Win7. You need to upgrade the OS to Win8 or newer. Preferably Win 10. Personally, I would wait to upgrade to Win 11 for at least 1 year.

It's not drivers, the X470 drivers work fine on X570, my issue that that it just doesn't boot before the drivers could even be an issue.

If you have not already, try booting windows 7 in safe mode, it should prompt you
to enter recovery mode after a few failed boot attempts. If it boots into safe mode you can then reboot and see if it resolves the issue. Windows 7 and above all refresh essential drivers when safe mode is entered as well as load any missing drivers. |

Well, I would try that, if I could get it installed.

So basically yesterday (and today) I swapped boards since I kinda wanted to anyways due to the X570 Taichi not supporting SATA hotswap for no reason.
My main platform is now on my old board, and I now have the X570 Taichi as a testbed that I can quickly test with, it still has a 5000 series processor, although a single CCD one as it's a 5800X. Anyways I remembered that I could just swap the 7 setup for the 8 one, so I did that, and got through the first setup stage, but when booting 7, I get the same BSOD, safe mode or not. Also it doesn't create any boot log. |

So, I went and got a X570 MSI board, and found that on top of being able to boot 7 (and even Vista lol), it has SATA hotswap, and instead of being unstable over a curve OC of -7, I'm able to run -16 without any issues. I also tested my old 2700X, and instead of being unstable at stock frequencies, it passes Linpack without issues.
Not sure why I gave ASRock another chance after X370 being a disaster. |
