Board model: X670E Steel Legend
BIOS version: 1.18 AS04
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7700X
RAM: G.Skill 32GB (F5-5600J3636C16G)
GPU: Gigabyte RTX 4090 (GV-N4090GAMING)

I was upgrading from one of the 1.11 versions. I think it was the original from 10/25. Each time to get it to post I would have to power down, going as far as switching off the power at the PSU, waiting 10-20 seconds, then power it up to get it to post. Windows would crash every time with a random error.

I couldn't even get a windows install disk to load. It would crash as well, ntoskrnl I believe. It gave me a few options like recovery, load to UEFI, etc. None of those options would work. I even tried a reflash of the BIOS via flashback to no avail.

I'm back up and running using 1.11.AS03 [Beta]. Booted into windows without a hitch. Has anyone else had problems with the new 1.18 AS04 BIOS? I haven't tried messing with any of the hardware such as removing my GPU (because it's an infernal pain to get in and out) or fiddling with RAM, because also a pain due to the ginormous GPU. The RAM runs at the OC'd EXPO profile speeds no problem under current BIOS.

I've tried resetting all BIOS settings as well. Just trying to think if there's anything I've missed or if this is problems with the BIOS and ASRock needs to fix this.

I have the same issue with the X670E PG Lightning.
Bios Post stucks until power off/on and it's even worse when trying to enable XMP.

Which Memory are you using?
I use G.Skill 6000Mhz F5-6000U3636E16GA2-TZ5RK
They are listed in the Memory QVL.

Also back to 1.11 AS03 now.

My GSkill kit I think was branded as flare and CPU-Z reported Samsung chips. 4800 or 5600 EXPO doesn't appear to affect my ability to POST or boot properly. I fiddled around with RAM settings.

In October, I update bios from 1.03 to 1.07. Set Raid. Installed Windows 11 hynix Platinum P41 2TB. Had two GIGABYTE AORUS Gen4 in RAID 0. Had 64gb G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo. Off the default onboard video. Had various issue getting ram bios settings to work. Seldom odd freezes with file explorer randomly crashing to BSoD.

In January, I finally got my GPU, which seems to have boot issues. firmware GPU and complete NVIDIA driver wipe reinstall seem to fix that. Still had random crashes off my raid 0 or file explorer.
Remove raid 0 for two volume drives and went to bios 1.09. Seem to have low power stability like could do desktop apps, but when going into games random crashes like 20mins to hour of use.

Updated to bios 1.11, then 1.11(AS01), then 1.11(AS01). still increasing random crashes 20mins to 1 hour use. BOSD "Driver_Power_State_Failure"
seem related to anything sleeping or going into low power mode. If I ran benchmarking or stree testing. everything seem fine for 5min to hour. few after shutting down the app few minutes later would freeze.
Did things like going to single 16gb DRR. Turn off all RBG lighting. removed any extra usb devices joysticks, tobi eye track, usb dac, muteme button, printer.

Updated BIOS to 1.18 AS04. Now pc was freezing like every 5 to 20mins from bootup.
BOSD "Driver_Power_State_Failure". Removed RTX 4090 GPU. still having issue. went down to single ram stick. change memory setting. still issues. Checking temps, MB 25-27cc, CPU 36-42C at low use. GPU was 40C. Tried unplugging all power cables, switch ports. PC booting with ASROCK update which tried install AMD driver update crashed windows. Booting into windows just black screened.

Reset BIOS, Bios formatted M.2 drives. After unplugging everything and replugging attempt RAID install on single volume hynix Platinum P41. Fail or freeze during windows 11 install. Switched BIOS to AHCI instead of RAID. formatted M.2 drives.
Now in booting into Windows 11 usb install media, getting crash "ACPI_BIOS_ERROR.

Tried taking out GPU and extra ram, same. Tried reflashing bios to 1.18 AS04. same
"ACPI_BIOS_ERROR" error when running windows 11 installer. Hard or soft reboots let into BIOS no issues. Been trying different settings without luck.
Going try to down grade BIOS to earlier versions.

So frustrating.

I can boot up the 1.18 (plain, no AS04) fine, and at first I was happy as the fast boot is much quicker, the rpeviosu versions needed 20-30 seconds to initialize before the bios apeared, 4 more seconds till windows.

But it does not save my EXPO profile. After changing from standard 4800 to my 6000 EXPO profile, the new reboot turns off the PC completely, takes much much longer (nearly a minute) and then reboots again with 4800 Mhz.

So 1.18 is not usable.

update, I went back to 1.11 AS03 Beta, and at least the EXPO timings are woring again. With 1.18 the Expo timings were set in the bios, but did not translate, during boot in BIOS it says @4800 and in Windows you could as well see that it was running at 1.1 Volt instead of the 1.35 in the EXPO timing.

My forst ASRock mainboard ever and I feel more like a BETA tester who is not getting paid

Oh and I forgot my system specs, in case ASRock wants tpo re-create the problem.

BIOS version with issue: 1.18
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7700X
RAM: G.Skill 2x16GB (F5-6000J3636F16GX2-TZ5NR) listed in mainboard QVL

back to 1.11 AS03 BETA and it works again, memory runs at 6000Mhz and 1.35V. Only downside are the usual long bios bootup times with EXPO profiles ...

I just want to chime in and share, that 1.18.AS04 seems good so far on my end - even with 5200 xmp.
