So I built a system last week with the following specs...
Montech King 95 Pro Case AsRock Z790 Steel Legend Wifi MB Intel core i7 14700K 48GB G.Skill Trident DDR5 8000 Ram (Running at 4000) Thermaltake Toughpower GF A3 850 Power Supply Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML360L ARGB V2 AIO CPU Liquid Cooler WD Blue SN580 2TB TLC NAND PCIe Gen 4x4 NVMe M.2 Internal SSD 2 x 10TB spinning Enterprise hard drives (20TB total) **Note** Yes, I know the Motherboard does not support the Ram YET, but I am hoping a future firmware update will. It runs at 4000 without any attempt at overclocking and runs very stable. As you notice, I did not list a GPU, as I was waiting for nVidia's announcement. For the stuff I do, I do not need a dedicated GPU, but I wanted to add one anyhow. Last system was an AsRock Fatal1ty Z77 Pro with a core i7 3770K, vVidia GTX 970, 32GB Ram and a crap ton of hard drive space all in a MZXT Phantom case. Worked great for 11 years, and still does. but was ready for something new. So I built above system. Runs FAST!! A1!! So I got a great deal at Microcenter on the following.... ASUS NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 ROG Strix Overclocked Triple-Fan 8GB GPU Put it in.... Nothing. I get the pretty light show that the LEDs give off, but the system does not recognize it. I hooked up the two 8-pin power connectors correctly, I get no video on any of the ports. Nothing in Device Manager in Windows (Dual boot 10 and 11). When I boot, the Red VGA light on the mother board comes on for a few seconds. The fans also spin up, but turn off after the light goes out. I have removed the card, inspected for abnormalities, and re-seated it to no avail. Checked wiring to and from the power supply etc.... Running version 7.04 of the bios dated 2-16-23 which happens to be my mothers birthday. Latest bios is 12.03, date 12-28-23. Have not tried to update yet.... I have built computers since the 486 days, and did it professionally for quite a few years, but this really has me stuck.... HELP!!!! |
