Question for the guys who cloned Windows with Macrium. I cloned Windows with Macrium and and had to do the whole bcdboot modification, etc.. to get it to boot into UEFI. Now however, I am trying to download and create bootable Windows 10 with Windows Media Tool and I run into issues with my drive not being able to boot. Is this an issue of creating a Legacy MBR bootable disk unknowingly? Is that possible or are both UEFI and Legacy created on the disk?

When I try to boot it gives me an option to boot Legacy or UEFI from the USB.
I select UEFI but when I've tried I always get a BSOD for winload.exe missing or something similar. Anyone know what the issue may be? Need to re-install as I believe my Windows got corrupted from an Overclock/bad PSU.

Turns out the drive was DOA. HP EX950 M.2 2280 2TB PCle Gen3 x4, NVMe1.3 3D NAND Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) 5MS24AA#ABC. I purchase it at Newegg. We'll see how fast they can turn it around.

I have tried to get an M2 NVME drive to be recognized using the guides I've found. As of yet no luck. I am using a pcie card with the M2 mounted on the card. I did get a 500 gig (same brand HP) to be recognized. I can't remember for the life of me how I did it. I need to expand my boot drive so this is a 2TB drive.

Hi guys,

Where do you guys find the CSM for z77 Extreme4? I have installed 2.90P first and didn't see it in the Boot settings at the bottom. Then I installed the 2.90Q and also cannot find it.

I didn't have any issues flashing the Bios as later the Bios version says 2.90Q. Im confused why I can't see the CSM option in my Bios.

Should I be concerned? I am about to install my M2. SSD + PCIe adapter this week.

This is an old thread but very relevant to me. I would like to know / get help with doing this modification for an ASRock Fatal1ty Z77 Professional.

My system is great even though old, the biggest improvement I can do to it is getting it to boot off NVME. I have an NVME PCI card and a 1tb drive. It works fine as a secondary.

Unlike the Z77 Extreme 4, the Z77 Professional doesn't have ASRock beta firmware supporting NVME. I don't think I can just use the official Extreme 4 bios on my board even though is sounds very similar.

Thoughts, opinions?

A link to the tool I need and the driver I need would be great.

I've never done anything with customizing a bios before but I'm no stranger to picking up new things without screwing it up most of the time.

Thanks for any help.

So I am very happy with the outcome so far.

I used a pci express from amazon(20$ us) by the namebrand of yateng. It supports both b&m and m style drives.

So, it was super simple. The flash to the version that supports nvme, installed the drive with adapter, booted and enabled the drive, created media with uefi. Forgot to enable the CSM support first go around...enabled and viola.

It worked. Installed 1903 in about 11 minutes.

My boot time went from 40 seconds to about 11. My average speeds for reading are 3100-3200. They were 550-600.

Very happy so far. Very.

Thanks to everyone who put in the work figuring this out.

Although one wonky thing I just noticed after getting everything to run on the WD-Black is for one reason or another, I am not able to "shut down windows" Even on a forced shutdown "shut down anyway" does NOT work. Anyone else have problems with this or know what the problem is?

Let me just start by saying this was NOT easy. Probably b/c I'm a newb at all this but I was finally able to piece together all of the random bits of information from everyone's posts and things that I googled online and able to boot the NVME from my Asrock Z77. In reality, I could have saved myself 1 week by spending an extra $100 to get a new MOBO with full NVME performance and a lot of headache but finally there! Just tested and the performance is awesome!

Everyone has done this with EVO disk but just getting it out there that I was able to do this with my WD-Black. I cloned using Macrium as stated by someone else, flashed with 2.9p. Did diskpart and bcdboot also. It's highly advised by just about everyone to remove your old drive and only have your new one in to bcdboot but I wasn't able to get system recovery from USB to boot so I had to do bcdboot with my old drive connected. Just be careful. Anyways, it worked! FINALLY!

You really do not need x16 unless you have 2080ti which is also dump because you never get its full potential even with 3770k oc'ed.

im using x8 with gtx 1070 and other x8 is m.2 adaptor. Im not losing any performance.
