It could be that your freezing issue is related to your SDD or harddrrive. What are you using? When the freeze occurs, does it simply freeze the entire screen? How long have you waited for the PC to recover before restarting it?
Regarding your RAM, I can't get my RAM over 2400 (different CPU and motherboard). I'm using the G.Skill Trident Z F4-3200C16D-16GTZ kit. To even get it to boot at 2400 I have to manually set the configuration to 2400 and 15/15/15/15/36 in the BIOS in OC Tweaker, maybe try this and see if you can at least get to 2400. I've left the DRAM voltage at Auto for these settings. Forgot to say, don't use the XMP profile either. Edited by TooQik - 21 Apr 2017 at 8:15am |

"... without getting into platform issues...", sorry I cannot ignore reality. As long as you are aware they exist, particularly with Ryzen memory compatibility, I'll mention as few as possible. Are you asking in general why you are experiencing freezes, and how to diagnose it? Or do you believe it is memory related? QVL Listed: F4-3000C15Q-16GRR. That's a Ripjaws 4 model: http://www.gskill.com/en/product/f4-3000c15q-16grr Used: F4-3000C15D-16GVKB. That's a Ripjaws 5 model: http://gskill.com/en/product/f4-3200c16d-16gvkb The Q and the D are not of significance here. That they are different models is. The Ripjaws 4 model is a quad channel kit designed for Intel X99 boards and HEDT processors that support four channels of memory. No requirement to use four DIMMs. It is coincidence and luck that the F4-3000C15Q-16GRR model apparently works with Ryzen, but to what degree (speed) I don't know. The F4-3000C15D-16GVKB Ripjaws 5 model is designed for Intel Z170 and Z270 systems. Also, the Ryzen processor's memory controller's memory dividers do not support a DDR4 memory speed of 3000 according to AMD. The closest supported speed is 2933, which should be used with 3000 speed memory, as is noted in the QVL list. The XMP profiles with any DDR4 memory designed for Intel systems, as the two models above are, won't work with Ryzen. Setting the timings, speed, and DRAM voltage manually is the correct method. The best description about using DDR4 memory not designed for a Ryzen system that I've read is this: "... it's a crap-shoot." I agree, given what I have read about one pre-Ryzen DDR4 model working with Ryzen, and other pre-Ryzen models not working with Ryzen. We've seen examples of the "same model" of memory that have different memory chips in them, some Samsung, some Hynix. As a moderator, I should tell users what will work, which is why I go with the board's QVL list, or what models are recommended by the memory manufacture. G.SKILL suggests the models on this page for your board (sorry for the text link, some URLs fail with the forum's link tool): http://www.gskill.com/en/configurator?manu=52&chip=2952&model=2990 I've been told I'm wrong to say memory models not included in either list should be avoided, because some people on the Internet have gotten them to work with their Ryzen system. The problem is, other users cannot get the same memory model to work. I can't take that chance with their money and time. Are you installing all the basic drivers for your board yourself? Such as from the board's disk, or by downloading drivers from your board's Download page? Windows 10 update will install drivers automatically at any time, video drivers being a good example of that. My video driver was randomly updated while I was writing a forum post. My dual monitor setup suddenly began going dark on both monitors, and only one came back on. The default video driver and Windows Display settings were reset. A video driver installation done by a user always ends with a request to restart the PC. That did not happen when Windows installed a video driver, although it was still needed. I realized what happened and restarted the PC, but who knows what other Windows driver installations will do? |

ok so ive got some time spare (the wife disagrees but hey lets ignore her)
digging around this guy has got corsair ram running at 2666 http://www.gpforums.co.nz/threads/517857-ASROCK-AB350-pro4-RYZEN this guy got tridentz running at 2993 https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/63tfzw/ram_selection_for_asrock_ab350_pro4/ this guy uses pny 2400 oc to 2666 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ji9hl91JC6A (13.30 mins into video) and heres his bios settings https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYMRYAFnnKk (edited with extra links ) heres some more corsair at 2993 http://valid.x86.fr/06eluw corsair at 2666 http://valid.x86.fr/tbscv4 to be fair there is not a lot of posting/videos to be found about the actual end users and the pro4 which is a shame as this board was (past tense 'was' now isnt) on the shortlist at the top for a build i was pricing up for a friend the colour was good the power supply side looked good alas the lack of advanced bios and ram selection has crossed it of the list for the sub £100 board options anyways i hope this helps you try and get something better for your ram it would seem as i concluded last night there simply is NO firm ram recommendation anyone can say about this board other than using the qvl suggestions and hoping they actually will work at that speed Edited by datonyb - 21 Apr 2017 at 9:42pm |

I'm taking the memory back today. i've ordered F4-3200C15D-16GTZKW.
Thank you all for helping me through this. It sure sucks to have a stuck PC build even after all the time spent researching. :) Your help is greatly appreciated!
