Thanks wardog, so I assume I have no other option as to wait for a future AGESA updates in hopes that I will reach the same mem speeds on x399 as on the x370.

Just wanted to add that on the X399 FPG Bios v 1.6 there is no notable change in the memory (OC) stability. (Also none was expected really, but I wanted to post this for others wondering the same).
3066 feels maybe just a little bit more stable (can also be a placebo), but 3200 is still a far cry compared to X370 FPG mainboard. UPDATE: 3066 stability was a placebo... :-/ Waiting for AMD & ASRock to address the quad channel memory controller stability in the future updates...

Thanks man.... yeah.... it cost me an arm and a leg (don't forget about a kidney ) "Men will always be boys.... just the toys are getting more expensive". Another Update: Updated to Beta BIOS L.1.61 (courtesy of jzelectronic.de -- thanks man), and again no noticeable changes. Mem still on 2933 on my main X399 rig (vs 3200 on X370 for exactly the same modules).

I know, sorry, I just enjoy the irony of G.SKILL's QVL lists, which are basically meaningless when it comes to Ryzen. For example, G.SKILL added Intel X299 boards to the QVL (Ripjaws V is not a new model), that were released after X370/Ryzen, yet we know your F4-3200C14-GVR memory works in both X370 and X399 systems, that are not in their QVL. In the past, I assumed that was because the XMP profile was designed for Intel systems, but as you know, the XMP profile works for Ryzen too. I suggest posting in the AMD forum regarding Threadripper AGESA updates, and the numbering scheme. Who would know better than AMD? I think it is strange that the memory capability of Threadripper is different than that of Ryzen at this point. If Threadripper is basically Ryzen Zepplin processor modules including the IMC, just more of them in one package, then they should be identical in memory speed capability. Or better, if as I have read, Threadripper uses Ryzen modules that are the top 5% - 10% best binned modules. G.SKILL has just released new Ryzen/Threadripper optimized models of their TridentZ line. The model numbers will end in an 'X' to designate that compatibility. I'm not adding this for any reason except FYI, since I really don't think it matters much. Yup, that's exatly this PN --- F4-3200C14-16GVR. Ripjaws V (red) 4x 16GB set. X370 (after AGESA 1.0.0.6) - load XMP, set CR to 2T and Geardown disable and done - fire & forget. X399 - you can observe my fight here in this thread

New BIOS for ASRock FPG & Taichi X399 -- 1.70.
But since they only mention the new NVME Raid functionality I assume it will behave exactly the same as 1.60 & 1.61 in regard of memory support & compatibility (quad channel is still worse than x370 (my 16GBx4 sticks reach only 2933 and on x370 -- full speed 3200 CL14), and 8 channel is nearly non-functional populated with 16GB modules).
