    Posted: 13 Oct 2017 at 4:35pm
So I currently have 4 sticks of SR 8gb memory running at 2666, which will warm-boot at 2800, with voltage at 1.35. When I use only 2, I can get both sets to cold-boot at 3066. But with 4 sticks, they refuse to boot at any speed above 2800. Any suggestions as to what I can try to improve on that? Or is improvement unlikely because '4'?

aha ! Big smile

i have some experiance with this issue
here are some steps to help
you may find one of these or a combination of a few of these is needed

1, make sure am4 boot training is set to AUTO
2 tickle the ram volts up a bit (1.375 volts is quite usual to help / 1.4 volts isnt anything mad for some ram overclocking or major issues)
3,try the ram without any cpu overclock (this cpu clocking can affect ram) if its ok with no cpu clocking then try upping your cpu vcore a little more and then test ram speed
4, SR ram settings = geardown mode on /bank group swap disabled /bank group swap alt enabled
5, proc odt try 53.3 ohms and 60 ohms
6, soc volts to 1.1 (but im pretty sure your board dosnt allow this option)
7,reduce the cl timings slightly eg change cl15/17/17/35 to cl16/18/18/18/40/75

hope this helps

it would also help if you told us what exact ram sticks they are
im guessing they were
CMK16GX4M2B3000C15Wwith cl 15/17/17/35 timings

Thanks for replying.

Yes, those, all with hynix A-die (21nm), exactly the same timings / chips according to Taiphoon.
Guess I should've said a bit more about what I've already tried.

2. have tried with voltage up to 1.45V, everything on auto. Won't boot.
3. Have tried with CPU oc off (because once it's failed to apply xmp settings once it ignores those settings anyway until you reset / reboot /reapply CPU oc timings).
4. Tried BGS disabled, BGSA enabled; makes no difference (though I'll leave it on BGSA from now on)
5. ProcODT set to 60Ohm, 53 won't boot at all.
6. SoC currently set to 1.05V, will try 1.1 later
7 -- why would it be necessary to lower these when the memory goes to 3066 with same timings when I only use 2?

7 -------because with 4 sticks the cpu's memory controller is working twice as hard as with 2

you missed out a few things
did you try am4 boot training set to auto
did you set geardown to on
